Catholic Creators! We are looking for writing content on the Desert Fathers. First, make sure you google desert fathers and not dessert fathers, that’s something else completely. Two, learn about the desert monks now, and don’t feel obligated to wait until you have earned a theology degree. You don’t need to be an expert.

As I dig into the project, I am looking at the following Saints, as great candidates.

Paul of Thebes

Anthony the Great

Jerome

Pachomius

Abba Or

Athananasius of Alexandria

John Chrysostom

Evagrius Ponticus

Hilarion

Spell check will go crazy on whoever you write about, as it has with this list. I AM Catholic has selected the desert fathers to help prepare for Lent. I am currently partaking in Exodus 90, so the assignment also makes great sense. I love learning about asceticism. In Lent, we lean into discomfort. We fast and give up pleasures so that we can reap a greater benefit. We partake in a greater relationship with God. We clear away the excess noise, and we are able to hear Him.

I have selected Moses the Black. Moses lived the life of a slave and was able to escape or was stolen into freedom. He lived his early life in the passions of the world but later became an amazing Saint.

We ask that you submit your stories. Be creative. Learn the Saints. Have fun and build a stronger relationship with your Saint and with God.
